QPF / Quartz Piezo Force

Piezo force sensors.
Resolve the force
inside the event.

Quartz piezoelectric force sensors, force rings and preloaded links for press-fit monitoring, stamping and impact testing. Select the sensor, mounting and signal chain around your force pulse.

Five families. One matched measurement chain.

Choose the mechanical form first, then check pulse duration, force direction and the input your DAQ or PLC actually accepts.

The installation is part of the sensor

Preload, force shunt and installed sensitivity

A center bolt keeps the quartz ring compressed, but also bypasses part of the incremental force. Select preload from the exact sensor and hardware instructions. Around 20% of nominal force appears in some manufacturer guidance; it is not a universal QPF setting.

Check total compression with preload, tensile unloading, contact faces and bolt stiffness. Calibrate the installed assembly. Torque alone is not a direct measurement of preload.

02 / Electrical fit before model substitution

Charge and IEPE need different conditioning.

Charge output · pC/N

A high-impedance quartz signal needs a charge amplifier, clean connectors and qualified low-noise cable. Review temperature and drift at the assembly level.

Plan a charge measurement chain →

IEPE output · mV/N

Built-in electronics need constant-current excitation with adequate compliance voltage. Cable capacitance and current still matter for large fast signals.

03 / Replacing a specified sensor?

Compare the complete interface.

Kistler 90xx/93xx, PCB 208C/201B and Dytran references can start a review. A matching connector or force range alone does not establish interchangeability.

Send the full model suffix, drawing, sensitivity, polarity, preload and acquisition details. Request a documented configuration comparison before releasing the order.
